BCDC is committed to improving education access for the children of the villages around Buseesa.  Formal schooling increases knowledge, enhances skills and future economic mobility, and provides the community with hope.  To achieve these aims, the BCDC is constructing a primary school called Deirdre Ann Academy in a centralized location for the villages of Kakindo, Kiryabicooli, and Rusandara. It presently operates kindergarten to 4th grade with 170 students. Each year a new classroom will be constructed until seventh grade – the last year of elementary school – is available. At the school, children, are provided breakfast and lunch, have access to phonics, safe drinking water, and latrines.
