President and Founder
As a BCDC founder, Nick has been working with the Buseesa community since he first implemented the microcredit program in 2009.
Maria, like many other BCDC Board members, visited Africa for the first time and then couldn’t get enough.
Casey first developed a passion for humanitarian work as a high school student while participating in volunteer construction projects in poor communities with Nick Smith.
Sean is currently based in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Kimberly brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in international affairs and nonprofit management to the BCDC.
Emily first traveled to East Africa in 1985. During this trip she was exposed to the devastation caused by “Slims Disease,” now known as AIDS, a disease that was little understood but claiming lives across the planet.
Mitch grew up with Nick in Thousand Oaks, CA and currently resides in Washington, DC. Mitch became involved with BCDC in 2011 when Nick moved to the nation’s capital and began expanding the organization.
Scott Lehr is an experienced and accomplished executive leader. He has grown and scaled businesses, created and managed global strategic partnerships and launched and developed b2b and b2c brands.
Vicki-Marie Bassing was born and raised in San Francisco, Calif. She began dancing ( tap, ballet and acrobatics) at age 3 and continued training through high school.
Chris is a commercial real estate veteran of nearly 25 years in Los Angeles, working largely in coordinating facilities for various non-profit organizations such as American Red Cross World Vision and United Way
