As a BCDC founder, Nick has been working with the Buseesa community since he first implemented the microcredit program in 2009. Each year Nick spends two to three months working on the ground in Buseesa to ensure the BCDC is serving the community to the best of its ability.
Nick’s passionate leadership has taken the BCDC from a pilot project with 50 microcredit borrowers to a growing development institution with education initiatives, healthcare and infrastructure solutions, and over 800 microcredit borrowers with a path to the formal banking sector. Nick, along with the local BCDC staff, have built an effective system that is empowering the people of Buseesa to improve their lives and obtain better futures.
Nick has a B.A. in Business Economics and in Global Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an M.A. in African Studies with a concentration in development from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations at American University in Washington, D.C.
